another comedor..

Kenny´s Comedor we call it.. This is the Evangelic Church, about 1km away from the Catholic church. This Comedor is financed by a church (Camino de Vida) in Lima.
We work alongside with local contactors and supervisors.

We are told what we need to do.
The initial stage would be DIGGING again... I think Burners is famous for their digging skills.. :)
To make digging more challenging, this trenches fills up with sea water. The area we´re building on is near the beach and apparently some of the land just fills up with water. Sooo... as soon as we take some mud out.. it sort of just fills up. Eventually we manage to get the right depth though. It took some time but we managed..

Eleanora Sun bathing and mud bathing in the sun. Lots of good minerals for the skin.. ahhhh a good way to spend the holidays!

Sammy and I trying to empty the trenches... hmmm it seems like it is mission impossible...
Gurp is getting in there with the spade... only a few centimetres more to reach the target!!
Next task was to bend iron bars... hmmmm... with a special technique too.. requires some sort of strength. The pastor of the church helps us out too and he is showing the guys what needs to be done and how to use the tools..
Here are the bending tools... the pastor made it look easy but it isn´t as easy as it looks.

Here are the result.. not too bad after a few tries and change of techniques...
The boys are stretching after the hard work of bending STEEL..It really works on the back.
Here I am doing something easy while the boys are working the muscle bending iron,I am cutting them.. It was fun to work with the machine. Yes got my protective glasses on..

With all the iron and steel that we were bending and cutting.. this is what the other local workers were doing...

We have done things that we would never have done in our lives and it is such a good experience to be on a construction site to see how to build. I don´t think we could be expert when we´re done but... we will know a little bit more.
